OBJECTIVE
Design a white-labeled, AI-powered platform prototype aimed at transforming the General Rate Case (GRC) process for utility companies. The goal was to streamline workflows, enhance transparency, and reduce complexity by centralizing collaboration, document management, and AI-assisted reviews into a single, cohesive tool.

OUR PROCESS
User Research: Developed three key personas—Regulatory Analyst, Legal Counsel, and Utility Stakeholder—based on user interviews and internal insights. This user-centered approach clarified core needs around collaboration, compliance, and workflow visibility.
Competitive & Feature Analysis: Conducted a competitive audit of industry tools and a targeted feature analysis focused on document review and editing capabilities. Findings informed feature prioritization and UX patterns that aligned with industry expectations.
Journey Mapping: Created detailed journey maps for each persona to identify friction points, tool dependencies, and opportunities for AI-powered interventions throughout the GRC lifecycle.
Information Architecture (IA): Drafted an initial IA reflecting the distinct roles and responsibilities of each user group. The structure supported clear task flows, traceability, and future scalability.

DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT
Branding & Visual Direction: Collaborated in a branding workshop to define tone, values, and visual identity. The resulting brand guidelines (color palette, typography, and iconography) created a cohesive, credible, and scalable design foundation.
Design Inspiration: Curated and presented relevant UX/UI references with strategic rationale to guide visual and interaction design choices.
User Flow & High-Fidelity Design: Designed a complete user flow for the Regulatory Analyst, including high-fidelity screens for the dashboard, case assessment, case repository, and an AI-powered “Intervenor” tool—focusing on clarity, efficiency, and guided decision-making.
Marketing & Enablement: Collaborated with the team to develop a sales-facing marketing deck, showcasing platform features, user benefits, and the value proposition for utility companies.
SOLUTION
As a Senior UX/UI Designer, I collaborated closely with fellow designers Joey Reyes, Deepika Thamizhvanan, Kelly Barclay, and Michelle Aranda to design a modern, AI-powered GRC platform that simplifies a traditionally complex and fragmented process. My role spanned strategy, design execution, and creative collaboration—requiring both critical thinking and a deep understanding of user needs across legal, regulatory, and stakeholder groups.
Throughout the project, I contributed to strategic ideation, participated in regular peer reviews, and helped guide the creative direction of key features. I led the design of a clean, intuitive interface that balanced visual appeal with functionality—ensuring the platform felt approachable while meeting the high-stakes demands of regulatory work.
Our final solution introduced several impactful features:
Assessment Tool: Provided centralized case management, AI-powered page-by-page writing feedback, and real-time project tracking—enhancing clarity, accuracy, and accountability throughout the workflow.
Executive Dashboard: Delivered at-a-glance visibility into performance metrics, approval rates, and case turnaround timelines, helping executives monitor progress and identify bottlenecks efficiently.
AI Intervenor: Offered deep analysis and scoring of document submissions, with tailored recommendations accessible through a Floating Action Button (FAB) for seamless, in-context AI support.
By integrating intelligent, user-centric tools into every stage of the GRC process, we enabled greater transparency, faster decision-making, and improved collaboration across teams. The solution not only impressed internal stakeholders but also became a cornerstone pitch for the sales team—garnering enthusiastic interest from utility companies nationwide.
